pastel sweaters

While I’m in a warm state of Western Australia,  there are still places that are facing a spring like chill. With the colder weather in full force it can make it difficult to get into the summer time heat.
Recently, I’ve seen in stores bright and pastel colors to welcome in the warmer seasons. So, I figured a fun way to dress for the cold and still get into the spring/summer mood is by pastel sweaters.
Notably, the best item I’ve seen to capture the look is a pastel sweater. Not only are sweaters offered in several styles, but they come in multitudes of color. A cute baby blue, lavender, or princess pink can do wonders for ringing in the floral bloom. Best of all these sweaters can keep you warm while you add accessories.
To achieve this look simply, add pastel colored sweater to your outfit. Then  pair it with a neutral color. The contrast in colors can provided a soft and delicate look that supports soft-hue lighting.  This reflects a more muted look than the primary colors utilized in winter months.
When matching with pastel colors I normally “color block” with a beige, grey, burgundy, or brown. Warm weather seasons are months of fun for me, so I tend to add a print into the mix. Due to the colder weather I would spice up the look with warmer bottoms or shoes. For an example: leopard printed skirt, polka dot pants, floral leggings, or striped heels can add a great splash of excitement to any outfit. The mix print also contrast nicely with the outfit.

In the style set shown below I paired a pastel sweater with an animal print skirt. I then accessorize with pastel heels and hair clips. To neutralize or block I added a beige hand bag to do the trick.

Jumpsuits

By now everyone has seen their favorite Instagram influencers in trendy rompers, body suits, and jumpsuits. It’s the epitome of summer.
Jumpsuits are known for the easy fit and elongating features. However, it can still be tricky to find one that works for your body type. Especially when each former model has one styled in her likeness. Particularly the drop shoulder, loose waist, extra leg train, body con, plunge neckline, and halter off. These few are among the popular cuts.

Yet, these are designed for women over 5’8; which is 3 inches above the average height of ladies in America. So the practicality of these jumpsuits does no favors for the majority of us.

Notably, the perfect solution had been uncovered. The sleeveless, backless strappy, wise leg jumpsuit is the perfect match for all body types. By design it isn’t baggy and adds a good measure of length to any person. Plus the backless accent adds a trendy summer accent. The style is flattering and flirty.
To perfect the jumpsuit look out for a striped feature in the longitudinal direction. This furthers the slimming property of jumpsuits. It also makes for an adorable pattern that ties nicely with a beach boardwalk or Wednesday wine tastings.
As for color go for a chic low colors. Like, sky blue, pale orange, lemon yellow, or mauve purple. Then make sure the stripes are in white or navy. You’ll want to save brown, red, and black stripes for the fall.

Below is a style set with the featured items listed, for jumpsuit inspiration. Notably, the cutest jumpsuits I’ve seen this season have been from Revolve.

Professional Pink

In a classic business setting most people stick to neutral colors. Normally a dark plain blazer and matching pants. Likewise, the undershirt is a grey, white, or light blue blouse. The neutral colors indicate a form of salaried workers. The bottoms, pants or skirts, are to be crisp and straight down.
Recently, I saw a few lighter colored blazers in an accessory shop. Due to my affinity for the color pink I found it adorable. My only struggle was how to make this blazer business casual.
My veterinary courses require a blue-color dress code on Fridays. So, I decided to test out my outfit for the day. I paired my double buttoned pink blaze,r from Versona, with a simple flair skirt, I got from H&M. I also have a lace pink top from Anthropologie.
I then accessorizes my outfit with pieces from Primark. I attached a velvet bow to the lace trim of my top. I added a pink floral hair pins to push my hair back. For shoes I kept the professional trend and wore black round toe heels. However, for after class I added my pair of feathered light pink glitter pumps.
The outfit was a stretch out of my normally work wear or business professional attire, yet it made me stand out from all the other uniform looks. Work wear can still be chic and cute. The professional pink look was a go that I would repeat again.
Down below, I attached an outfit set and links. Listed below is wear you can find similar items to my professional pink outfit.

Monochrome Spring

As spring and summer trends start to fly in it becomes essential to rember to classic chic look. Every spring and summer clothing store is going to be piled with bright colors and floral prints. Which are all lovely and viable options.
However, there are other ways to sport a spring look without charging up a storm for pastels.A monochromatic color scheme can still achieve the same spring or summery feel.
A lace blouse with trimmings is a fresh represntation of the vitality of life. Everyone who is in the workforce probably has this iteam too. Another wardorbe stable is a pair of pants. If you have pants or a skirt in a solid color with scalloped lining its a cute way to descritely incorporate a floral outlook. Likewise a patteren coat can bring in a splash of summer youth without the bright colors.
Overall you can still have a nice and soothing summer and spring outfit from your basic wardrobe needs. Staples in grey, black, creme, white, nude, and beige can still be worn during these seasons. The monochromatic colors are to be utilized every season and can provide chic looks.

Clothing Resloutions

This past year I’ve gotten more comftorable with utilizing clothes as a form of expression and art. Here are a list of notes I’ve uncovered and hope to share for this upcoming year. Its important that when we make resolutions to resolve to hold our selves at a great standard of confidence. The best way to do so it threw clothes.

  1. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns (stripes, stars, animal prints, glitter)
  2. Its okay for your bra or bralette to show
  3. Boots are acceptable to wear in the summer (they are great with dresses)
  4. Just cause its a trend doesn’t mean you have to like it
  5. You can have more than one accessory (it won’t clash!)
  6. Its okay to mix fabrics (lace, leather, velvet, suede)
  7. Its okay to sport old trends (I love boho dresses even though it was late 1990’s trend)
  8. White apperal is okay after labor day
  9. Fishnets can be worn durring the day
  10. Classic looks are a wardorbe stable

School Supplies

I’ve listed the links to some of my favorite office supplies. They help me stay organized in class. I’m currently obsessed with rose gold themed stationary and clips. Particularly, Forever 21 and Skinny Dip London have wonderful options.

I’ve also grown to like custom planners and have switched from Lily Pulitzer planners to professional journals. This switch was much needed as I take on doctoral school. Professors often frown upon brightly printed patterns so the burgundy and dusted pink journal was more accepted. Journals have been a better fit than planners because I can also take notes instead of writing on the margins of my dated boxes. I have found a few journals on Novica.

Along with my fall obsessions I have grown to adore River Islands fall line. There blouses are essential for professional days on Thursday for guest lectures in my veterinary courses. Similarly Selfridge’s has wonderful accessories that I’ve grown to adore. There leather gloves are wonderful for crisp mornings. Likewise Kendra Scott’s new line has modern simplistic jewelry that adds clean look.
