Spring top

My outfit of the day was a more casual look then normal. When I’m not in scrubs or dressage apparel I try to wear chic outfits. However, I wanted to have a simpler look for taking my dog out to the park.

So, I sported my favorite brand and basic wardrobe staples. I opted for a cute flowy off the shoulder floral two way top from Billabong. The base of the top was black with soft white pink and yellow flowers printed among the top.

I then paired both with my favorite pair of jeans. A white lace up high rise denim jeans from Billabong. The jeans are a staple of mine due to the nice fit and stylish edge the lace provides.

Likewise I then matched the outfit with cute wedges I got from surf stitch. The black vegan pleather wedges provided height and a cute edge with the jeans. The little heel on the wedges helped elongate the outfit. To accessorize I wore a friendship bracelet from a sorority sister and a cute toe ring from the sawdust festival.

My outfit was laid back. Yet it still flowed nicely with the spring feelings, especially since Perth is in the “winter” season. Overall the outfit was ideal for a laidback warm weather look!

Bardot 2018

The term Bardot has stemmed from the iconic french model and actress, Brigitte Bardot. She was popularized for often wearing off the shoulder iteams sporting a bare look. The sexualized 1950’s style then evolved into current fashion statements.

The name Bardot then ventured to be a high brand clothing store. Bardot, the Australian brand often promotes styles from the famous namesake. There seasonal trends, especially summer and spring still showcase the infamous Cannes film festival look Brigitte pulled off.

Now in the 2018 spring and summer fashions have decided to reflect the off the shoulder look. Some stores are even calling these products bardot tops and dresses. So, the iconic look has made a comeback.

The off the shoulder style was one I decided to try. To style this bardot look I choose a lighter color dress. The pink and creme gingham pattern dress was to accentuate feminine style. Likewise, I choose a dress with girly frills on the bottom cut of the clothing iteam.

Since off the shoulder dresses normally have a straight cut often making it hard to make a figured tailor, I opted for a belt. I went with a pale pink waist tie belt to accentuate a formed look. I then paired the dress with a pair of light pink heels with floral designs for a fun mix of prints.  I then added more accessories to the mix with a pale pink sorority layered choker necklace.

This clothing  choice was the perfect summer outfit.

Floral Fun

With the wave of flower crowns commencing to an end at the beggining of 2017 there was a gap left for everyones flowery needs. The big lavish headbands decored with lush flowers where now yesturdays accessories. So what is a good replacement to accessorize with? The question was one I spent the majority of the year trying to uncover.

I tried out the faux pearls headbands, the bow scrunchies, patterned scarves, and a multituded of hats. All have been cute and worked well with my outfits. Yet, none of my fun accessories enhanced the feminine floral looks I once had.

Luckily, during a trip to H&M with a friend I uncovered a wall filled with floral accessories. There dozens of cute indivdual flower clips and pins for your hair style. The hair clips were vastly different than the flower crowns. They were much simpler and siphisticates too. If anything the cute floral hair accessories were a more mature look to foramlly popular flower crowns.

So, even the one trend ended you can still modify the concept and enhance the look. I was able to adapt to a new look while still achiving the sweet summer style I sought after.
